Dennis Gilkey Appointed to DR/GR Advisory Committee
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (Feb. 22, 2008) – Dennis Gilkey, CEO of Gilkey Organization and Gilkey Advisors, has been appointed as a member of the Southeast Lee County Density Reduction Groundwater Resource (DR/GR) Ad Hoc Committee and elected a co-chair of the committee.
The 15-member advisory committee, appointed by the Lee County Commissioners, is working with county staff and county consultants to make recommendations as part of the DR/GR Action Plan approved by the board of commissioners in September 2007. The Action Plan is part of a review of mining, transportation, environmental and land use issues in the DR/GR area. The Lee County Board of County Commissioners declared a one-year moratorium relative to rezoning and land use amendments, effective September 10, 2007.
Raised in Fort Pierce, Fla., Gilkey received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Florida. Prior to founding Gilkey Organization in early 2007, he served for 23 years in senior capacities at the Bonita Bay Group companies, including nine years as its chief executive officer. Gilkey also currently serves on the 15-member Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida, the University of Florida Center for Real Estate Studies Advisory Council, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
